What happens to your car while it is being repaired
A damaged car passes through several sets of hands before you see it again, and every handover is somewhere things can go wrong if nobody owns the process.
Recovery comes first. A car that isn't roadworthy needs moving by someone properly equipped, not by whichever truck reaches the scene first.
If the repair can't start straight away, it goes into storage. People tend to overlook that part, and it matters more than you'd think, particularly with anything valuable.
Repairs should go to a workshop that suits the car, using manufacturer-approved parts. The nearest bodyshop with a free ramp isn't always the right answer.
Throughout all of it you should have one person you can ring who knows where your car is and what happens next. Chasing three companies for the same answer is nobody's idea of a service.
